Mammographically detected asymmetries in the era of artificial intelligence

Abstract Background Proper assessment of mammographically detected asymmetries is essential to avoid unnecessary biopsies and missed cancers as they may be a benign or malignant cause. According ACR BIRADS atlas 2013, are classified into asymmetry, focal global developing asymmetry. We aimed assess the diagnostic performance artificial intelligence in compared breast ultrasound well combined mammography ultrasound. Results This study was prospective that comprised 51 women with asymmetry found on screening mammography. All participants conducted full-field digital Then obtained mammographic images were processed by software system. Mammography had sensitivity 100%, specificity 73%, positive predictive value 56.52%, negative accuracy 80%. The results Ultrasound revealed 100.00%, 89.47%, 76.47%, an 92.16%. Combined showed 86.84%, 72.22%, 90.20%. Artificial demonstrated 84.62%, 94.74%, 48.26%, 94.47%, Conclusions Adding led better characterization, so it reduced false-positive improved specificity. Also, mammography, ultrasound, AI can used decrease increases confidence diagnosis, especially cases no definite suspicious abnormality.
